I used a higher resolution setting on the camera too, 640x480. As you can see the biggest obstacles are focus and clarity. Without an electronic focuser it is very difficult to get things in focus. Compound that with unstable atmospheric conditions and I get fuzzy images.
Venus' position in the sky is to the SW shortly after sunset where there is still a lot of heat coming from the earth, but that's also what causes the crescent too. The next time I try Saturn I should be able to get some clearer shots...
