Back in the 1800s, scientists thought the entire universe (or at least
the universe as we knew it then) was permeated by this substance called
ether, and light propagated through the ether the same way sound
propagates through air.
The problem with this is if it's true then as the planet Earth moves
forward through the ether and light is let off of a flashlight, candle
(or whatever source of light you want), then the velocity of the Earth
gets added to the velocity of light. This means you have light
travelling at one speed in one direction, but if you look at it at some
right angle to that, you get light going at a different speed. More here: Einstein's Special Relativity

Nice use of the european "catalogue", Pete. Any flavours or colours you'd like to share with us?
And yes, I need to write the option to edit posts...

No mention of Coors Light, I'm disappointed. And it's actually Miller Lite. Remember those stupid commercials back in the 80's where the guy would order a "light" and they would bring a lamp over to the table? Then then would show the ML sign and the "L" and the "e" would flicker out to make it "it".
Anyway, the aether was what they called the "medium" in which electromagnetic waves traveled. They apparently nixed it in 1897. It was quite costly.

I just noticed the censored under the Patriot Act, and another thing what the hell is the Aether?

I believe "Miller Light" should be somewhat lower on the spectrum, unless of course the Death Star laser tastes great and is less filling.

106.3 The Frightened Squirrel, a potato, sinister google projects, depends, tampax, shouting car dealership commercials, and the wave.... all vital to the electromagnetic spectrum.
