Whatever the situation it can be repaired/replaced...lousy all around tho :(

I just watched one of those "Ask This Old House" episodes with a house with a black mold problem in the attic. They shoot it off of the wood with pelletized CO2. Kind of like sand blasting with CO2. It's not something that a homeowner can do themselves though. Specialized equipment and full body protective suits.. et cetera..
Lemme know if there is going to be some kind of Cannata roofing party though. I'll be there.

Looks like discolored wood from being wet many times in the past.. and possibly some black mold starting in your insulation. I'm gonna have to go with Jay Page on this one. "It'll be alright.".
